Good Companions News & Service Updates – March 2026

For over 25 years, The Good Companions have been providing trusted, compassionate care and support services across Cumbria — helping people live safely, comfortably and independently while building a strong reputation with local families and communities.

Here are our latest updates and special opportunities.

New Day Care Centre Now Open in Silloth

Our new Silloth Day Care Centre is now open and welcoming guests every weekday from 9am to 4pm.

The centre offers:

  • companionship and social interaction
  • activities and entertainment
  • meals and refreshments
  • wellbeing support
  • a warm and friendly environment

To celebrate the opening, we are currently offering special promotions in June and July. Please contact us for further details.

Please note that the Day Care Centre is a community and wellbeing support service and is separate from Good Companions’ CQC-registered care services.

Visiting Care at Home Across Cumbria

Our regulated Visiting Care at Home service continues to support people who wish to remain independent in their own homes.

This CQC-registered service can provide support with:

  • personal care
  • medication support
  • companionship
  • meal preparation
  • well-being and daily living assistance

For a limited time, we currently have availability together with a special introductory offer:

One hour of care free each day for the first five days.

Terms and conditions apply. Please contact us for further information.

Direct-Pay 24 Hour Live-In Care

For families seeking ongoing support at home, Good Companions can help people explore a range of live-in care options designed to provide reassurance, companionship and support in familiar surroundings.

We are currently offering a special arrangement where:

Good Companions waives its service fee for the first six months and customers simply pay the carer directly.

This can provide an affordable alternative to residential care while allowing people to remain in the comfort of their own homes.

Please note:
Some live-in care arrangements may involve self-employed carers who are engaged and paid directly by the client or family. These arrangements operate separately from Good Companions’ CQC-registered care services and may not themselves constitute regulated activities under Care Quality Commission (CQC) rules.

Where regulated personal care services are required, Good Companions can also provide support through appropriately regulated and CQC-registered care services, subject to assessment and individual care requirements.

Specialist Dementia Care in Silloth

In Silloth, Good Companions also provides specialist dementia care in a calm, carefully designed environment.

Features include:

  • secure all-ground-floor accommodation
  • safe garden access
  • specially trained dementia care staff
  • compassionate person-centred support

Our aim is to help people living with dementia feel safe, supported and valued while maintaining dignity and wellbeing.
