CQC registration applies to specific regulated activities and registered services rather than to all services provided under the Good Companions brand. Where regulated personal care activities are delivered, they are provided under the relevant CQC-registered service.

The Good Companions Residential Care Home in Silloth and our regulated Home Care services are registered separately with and inspected by the Care Quality Commission (CQC).

Some community day support services and certain 24 Hour Live-In Care arrangements (where carers are self-employed and paid directly by the client) may not themselves constitute regulated activities under CQC rules.

Understanding CQC Registration

The CQC regulates specific care activities, such as accommodation for people requiring personal care and the delivery of personal care in people’s own homes.

Some community support services, day support services, and self-employed or direct-pay live-in care arrangements may operate differently and may not themselves require separate CQC registration. Where a service involves regulated personal care, Good Companions will provide this through the appropriate CQC-registered service.
